Interradicular Root Canals in Mandibular First Molars: A Literature Review and Ex Vivo Study

2019

Abstract Introduction Successful endodontic treatment vastly depends to a high degree on an accurate knowledge of root canal system morphology. It is a prerequisite to be aware of all possible reservoirs where bacteria and/or toxins can persist, compromising the surrounding tissues; such knowledge results in endodontic success. Methods The presence of interradicular canals and diverticula between the pulp chamber floor and the bifurcation area surface of 117 mandibular first molars was investigated. Access cavities were prepared, the teeth were embedded in plastic, and the pulp chambers were flooded with methylene blue and then centrifuged. An average of 4.2 (0.145 ± 0.03 mm thickness) slic…

Fixed dental prostheses with vertical tooth preparations without finish lines: A report of two patients

2016

Tooth abutments can be prepared to receive fixed dental prostheses with different types of finish lines. The literature reports different complications arising from tooth preparation techniques, including gingival recession. Vertical preparation without a finish line is a technique whereby the abutments are prepared by introducing a diamond rotary instrument into the sulcus to eliminate the cementoenamel junction and to create a new prosthetic cementoenamel junction determined by the prosthetic margin. This article describes 2 patients whose dental abutments were prepared to receive ceramic restorations using vertical preparation without a finish line.

CEMS Study of 57Fe Implanted in Diamond

2002

Conversion electron Mossbauer (CEMS) measurements have been made on a diamond sample implanted with 70 keV 57Fe to a dose of 5 × 1014 cm−2. CEMS spectra were collected in the as-implanted state and after annealing the diamond up to 1470 K. The lower temperature spectra were consistently fitted with three symmetric doublets. With annealing the areal fractions of two of the doublets increased to 44% and 48 %, respectively, while that of the third doublet decreased to be replaced by a single line component with isomer shift δ = 0.0 mm/s. Comparison of the observed isomer shifts with recent in-beam Mossbauer measurements and theoretical calculations allow us to attribute the singlet to intersti…

Komparativno istraživanje oblikovanja četiriju rotirajućih sustava

2015

Svrha: U ovom istraživanju analizirali smo rezno područje, vrijeme instrumentacije, održavanje anatomije korijenskog kanala i neinstrumentirana područja dobivena korištenjem instrumenata F360®, Mtwo®, RaCe® i Hyflex® u ISO veličini 35. Vrijeme inst…

Reparability of giomer using different mechanical surface treatments

2016

Background In the repair process achieving high bond strength between the new and old resin based materials is necessary for clinical longevity. This study compared the effect of three different mechanical surface treatments (air abrasion, Nd:YAG laser and diamond bur) on the repair bond strength of giomer. Material and Methods In this in vitrostudy, 125 cylindrical giomer samples were used. The giomer samples were randomly assigned to 5 groups (n=25). In group 1, the samples did not undergo any surface treatment. In groups 2 to 4, the samples underwent surface treatments with air abrasion, Nd:YAG laser and a diamond bur. The samples in group 5 were prepared to measure giomer cohesive stren…

Impingement of the Sciatic Nerve due to a Protruding Acetabular Cage Rim

2020

Abstract Sciatic nerve damage is a well-known complication that occurs in 1.5% of patients after primary total hip arthroplasty and in 8% after revision total hip arthroplasty. Yet when considering re-revision arthroplasty and acetabular cage implantation, incidence and management remain unclear. This case report describes a young female patient with sciatic nerve impingement after acetabular cage implantation. Her primary complaint was shooting sciatic left leg pain, worsening on ambulation and when seated. A complete workup was negative for spinal impingement or infection, and axonal nerve damage was confirmed through nerve conduction studies. The intraoperative findings showed that it wa…
